Mark and I got together at the Brewsky's in Lincoln tonight and talked about rules and such. We took what everyone has been talking about and put it together but it is open to other suggestions. We wanted to keep it close to the league.
In short.
National League only
5 frozen players from our rosters last season (we will need to determine Bret's roster if team or selections?)
Draft order out of a hat and then reverse order per round
No drafting of minor league players unless that players is going to be in the league immediately. No prospects.
The top three spots will be paid. In future years first place will earn $5. We would use that money this year to purchase a plaque with the champion on it that would rotate to the winner.
Same categories
Only trades of current players and draft picks. No end of the year player trades.
One day of the week waiver wire pickups. 10 p.m. mountain time for new players.
No compensation for players traded to American League.

Mixed league
Any thoughts on having a mixed league?
It would make the draft much easier and it wouldn't have to be a struggle to find the backup to the backup at third base for the Reds.

Rosters
More roster possible talk...
Maybe we could freeze two players (a position player and a pitcher) from our prior roster.
Then I was thinking we could limit the teams to:
C
1B
3B
Corner
2B
SS
MI
OF
OF
OF
Util
For 11 position players
and then
7 total pitchers
Like a 5 man rotation
2 relief pitchers
I would also be for limiting the number of moves to make the draft more meaningful.

Online Commish
Does anyone know of a good service out there?
I've been looking around...I guess if some of our funds need to go to it then that would be ok with me.

Draft
I'd love to have a draft weekend with a social evening and a draft in Denver. Then we go to a game at Coors Field. Thoughts?

My first blog. I had to look up my gmail password to get in, but if you want to send me email, use my aol address.
I want to be in this league. I'm emotionally attached to my "current" roster, so I prefer keeping more of them, up to 7 or so. And I liked the basic format we had -- 5x5, NL-only, draft rather than auction. Rather than start some different game, I prefer to stay pretty much as we were, with a little less contention maybe. But, like I said, I want to be in this league. So if there's strong sentiment for something different, I'm still in.
There may be some details about transaction rules we should iron out. Since we've played together in that format, we pretty well know what the issues are going to be: compensation for losing players, trading for future compensation, waiver timing, etc. We can deal with them and move on.

Keeper
I wouldn't mind each of us being able to keep one player from the old rosters. I think that way there would be a tie-in to the past league as well.
