It's time to return to the basics.
It's time to bring the league back to the way that it should be -- fun between long-time friends!
So with that I propose the High Plains Drifters 2 League!!
I want this to be a place that we can comment on what we would like to see in the league.
Enjoy!!

Thanks for creating the site, Brian. I'm looking for fun too. What about Buck and Dan?

ReplyDeleteI also meant to say that while these are my thoughts I'm excited to hear about other ideas and play by whatever rules we put in place.
ReplyDeleteIn my post that was deleted, I'm correcting a typo. Here goes again: Mark said...
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to a new league. I want to have fun without dwelling on the past. I do want to say ONE TIME to the new league that I’m sorry things turned sour in our old league. I am not blameless…maybe some things I took too personally but tried to remain neutral. I am sorry and embarrassed for bringing a couple people into the league who I knew well and for how things turned out. I won’t mention that aspect again, but while Brian knows how I feel, I felt the rest of the new owners needed to know one time that I felt responsible for how things turned out and I want nothing but fun and easy changes. So now…
1. No end of year player trades of any kind! Trading players on the spot in a reasonable fashion and trading of reasonable draft picks are the only trades allowed. I even question why waiver spot trades were allowed.
2. While I do not dislike compensation, I understand the feeling against it and if the group doesn't like it, I'm OK with tossing it out the window.
3. While I like the freedom to get rid of the Glendon Rusch's and Steve Trachsel's of the world when they give up a truckload of earned runs every fifth night and singelhandedly take me out of the race in May, I would be in favor of limiting transactions and putting more emphasis back on the draft if that's what people want.
4. I would really like to see if it is possible and hopefully still free to have a website that would run our league (stats and rules) without any of us being commissioner.
5. I have mixed feelings about trade review…it might not be necessary.
6. Fees and how to distribute the money with fewer teams is obviously an issue, but very minor.
7. OTHER THAN TED OR OTHERS THAT HAVE "EMERGENCIES", online drafts are discouraged and not supported nearly as readily. People doing that really hurt our league and I bent over backwards to accomodate people there...
8. I still believe strongly that we need to keep the waiver list as a way to distribute players from the minors and AL fairly. The Wednesday and Saturday deadlines seem to work well. As far as how we actually determine if someone called up for the second time is a minor league player, I'm guessing we should discuss that (season or career...don't care either way...just needs determined by the group)
Alright. Count me in.
ReplyDeleteRight now, I don't think you can count on Dan, but I don't think you can totally count him out, either.
I've stated before: I want a league where the service in the commissioner. No matter how unfair, incorrect, egregiously incorrect, the computer is GOD.
In spite of lop-sided trades, unfair league switches, first-come-first-served free-agent callups, the Steve Trachsels and Glendon Rusches. ... How about going back to the old standard where you have to have an open roster spot to make a free-agent pickup?
I'm open to about anything from reserve lists to limited rosters. Trade limits? Transaction fees? Transaction limits? AL? NL? Both?
What if we were each given an AL team or two as our "Farm" team and anyone coming to the national league from that team would belong to whoever owns the farm team?
I think we could brainstorm a number of new ideas that would make the league more fun.
I'm interested in discussing anything.
Buck, I agree about the commissioner thing. I will be on a search for it.
ReplyDeleteCool ideas, Buck. These are the kinds of things that will make this league fun again. I'm pretty much up for anything.
